Box Girder Design

Our team is skilled in the design of box girders built to CMAA standards C through F and has done so many times in the past. We prefer the torsion box design but recognize that some scenarios are better suited to traditional boxes and some shops might prefer to build conventional or channel boxes. We will work with you to choose the best design. If you so require, fabrication drawings are available so that your team can build the boxes on your factory floor.

  • PE-stamped drawings in US & Canada
  • Experienced 20+ years team
  • Fabrication drawings available and checked by an in-house engineer/welder of 25 years experience

Runway Engineering and Review

One of the most experienced and respected engineers in overhead cranes, the late Charles Totten of Bethlehem Steel and Harnischfeger Corporation, conducted a study that showed the bridge-travel (or long-travel) machinery was the top mode of failure in overhead cranes after adjusting for operator error. This is because runways are often improperly design, erected, maintained, and also often suffer from settling or other outside effects. CMAA code only allows for 1/4″ lateral tolerance* over the entire length of the runway and 3/8″* elevational tolerance over the entire length of the runway. In other words, the rails cannot vary more than the width of a fingernail over hundreds of feet in length. Our team brings some of the foremost runway experts to bear on existing and new runways.
